Prevent Scale Build Up with 3M Aqua-Pure Water System

The 3M Aqua-Pure AP430SS whole house scale inhibition inline water system is specifically designed to reduce scale build-up and corrosion in order to prolong the lifespan of hot water-using appliances such as water heaters (both standard gas, standard electric, and tankless), boilers, clothes washers, and dishwashing machines. Additionally, it helps maintain the integrity of plumbing fixtures like faucets, pipes, and shower heads. This system provides a flow rate of up to 10 gallons per minute (37.9 liters per minute) when connected with 3/4" NPT inlet/outlet connections.

Calcium and magnesium mineral deposits, known as scale, often accumulate when hard water is heated, leading to various issues such as reduced water pressure, decreased appliance efficiency, and shortened appliance lifespan. The AP430SS utilizes polyphosphates to bind these hardness minerals, preventing them from solidifying and forming scale on metallic surfaces. In addition, the polyphosphates create a thin protective layer on metal surfaces to reduce corrosion.

This scale inhibition system is tested and certified by NSF International to meet NSF/ANSI Std. 42 for material and structural requirements. The single vessel/cartridge design of the AP430SS allows for easy replacement of the 3M Aqua-Pure AP431 Water Filter Cartridge every 6 months or sooner if a decrease in water flow rate is observed. Installation of the AP430SS should be done on the cold water supply line of the water heater or at the point-of-entry of water into the home.

The system features two 3/4" NPT female connections, requiring additional adapter fittings for proper installation. Various adapter fittings can be used to match different pipe sizes such as copper, galvanized pipe, or PEX tubing. The AP430SS can also be adapted to different pipe sizes by using reducing adapters on the 3/4" NPT head.

By injecting minute concentrations of polyphosphates into the water supply, the AP430SS helps inhibit scale build-up, protect water heaters, maintain appliance efficiency, and make system maintenance easier. With a stainless steel head, a flow rate of 6 gallons per minute, and a maximum operating temperature of 100°F, this scale reduction system is an effective solution for tackling hard water issues in residential settings.
